Features

Not a vocabulary app.
A tool that turns lists into paper.

Everything between pasting a word list and holding a printable A4 sheet is repetitive layout work. That is the part it takes over.

Α

Import a word list

Paste words, phrases, or sentences. The editor imports TXT and Excel; the library imports JSON and Excel. Everything stays editable afterwards.

Β

Five layouts

Plain table, writing lines, landscape, flashcard, and sprint. Pagination follows your paper orientation, type size, line height, columns, and margins.

Γ

Live A4 preview

The preview renders at true A4 dimensions and splits long content automatically. Every page you see is a page that prints.

Δ

PDF export and direct print

Export a multi-page PDF or send the sheet straight to the system printer. Only the paper is printed — no sidebar, buttons, or page background.

Ε

Built-in library and quick quizzes

11,871 built-in entries spanning the zhongkao and gaokao lists, CET-4 and CET-6, postgraduate entrance, IELTS and TOEFL. Search them, favorite them, and draw from them at random — 10, 20, 30, or 50 words, never repeating within one draw.

Ζ

Templates, history, and meanings

Save your usual layout settings and apply them next time. Copy a history entry into a new draft without touching the original.

Η

AI helper (bring your own key)

Explains meanings, builds example sentences, separates easily confused words, and can propose additions to your library -- you see what it wants to add before anything is written, and a batch can be undone. It needs an account and key of your own with a model provider.

Three tiers, defaulting to the most conservative: only what you type.
Conversations go straight to the provider you chose; our servers are not involved.
Textbook vocabulary is marked on your own machine, so your library never leaves it.
Three steps

Spend the time on teaching, not on formatting

Bring in the words

Paste text, import a file, or search, favorite, and randomly draw from the built-in library.

Pick a layout, watch the preview

Choose a dictation direction and layout; the pane beside it shows the paginated A4 result as you go.

Export or print

Export a multi-page PDF or print directly. You can also save it to local history and pick it up later.

Two ways to work

Same word list, different amount of fiddling

General document tools are built for free-form editing. EnglishDictationMaker does one thing: produce structured dictation sheets, repeatedly.

Local-first

Your data stays here.
Network calls are yours to start.

Editing, preview, export, and printing never depend on a server. With no connection at all, the core of the app still works.

  • Library, templates, and history are stored on your machine by default
  • Your local library is never uploaded automatically
  • Student names, classes, device IDs, logs, and activation codes are never uploaded
  • Community library contributions require you to turn them on
  • Feedback reports are only sent when you copy or submit them
  • Your public IP is included only when you request diagnostics yourself
Trial and licensing

The limits, stated up front

There is no trial countdown and nothing locks up when a date passes. The quota is a rolling window, and what you spend comes back on its own.

Free trial

  • 3 outputs in any rolling 7 days — a PDF export or a direct print each counts as one
  • Trial output carries a watermark
  • Editing, preview, library, templates, and history are not limited
  • When the quota runs out, the app shows when the next one returns

Full licence

  • No watermark and no output limit
  • Bound to your device, usable offline once activated
  • Still in development — not yet on sale

Pricing and purchasing will be announced on this page and in the changelog once they are settled.

FAQ

Common questions

I used all three trial outputs. Now what?

The quota rolls rather than running out for good. Each export or print takes one, and that one comes back seven days later -- so whatever you spent a week ago is available again today.

Which systems are supported?

Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit. macOS and iPad / iPhone are on the roadmap and not released yet.

Does my word list get uploaded?

No. Word lists, templates, history and settings stay on your own computer. The only feature that sends anything out is the AI assistant, and it needs you to supply the provider and key yourself and to choose what it may see; by default it sends only what you type into the chat box. See the privacy notice.

Do I need a connection?

Building worksheets never needs one. To be exact, though: opening the app makes a single reachability probe to our server to work out whether online features are available -- it carries none of your content. Everything else on the network is something you start yourself.

What does a licence cost, and how do I buy one?

It is not on sale yet. Neither the price nor the purchase route has been settled; when they are, it will be stated here and in the changelog. Until then the trial quota keeps rolling.

Does the app update itself?

It never upgrades itself. Settings does have a check-for-updates action that tells you whether a newer version exists; downloading and installing stays with you, and nothing is replaced in the background.
